We are conscious of the pitfalls of the white-saviour complex and continually educate ourselves on ways to avoid harming the community or creating negative codependency.
Community empowerment is a core aspect of our vision. We actively collaborate with local individuals and families, building a circular economy that enables them to sustain their livelihoods and contribute to their educational advancement. By working as one, we create an unbreakable support network and foster a strong sense of ownership within the community.
Breaking barriers and defying limits
We have a parcel by Lake Victoria where we are building our operating facilities. Since our inception in 2021, we have accomplished significant milestones. We established a secure fence and gate for the property, opened a road to the main highway, brought electricity to the area, and developed a reliable water and septic system. We have built different facilities, like two classrooms, four toilets and our Kasaluna (two equipped rooms with bathrooms to host our visitors). These achievements demonstrate our commitment to improving the conditions on the island, one step at a time. Our land neighbours now benefit from electricity, easy access to water and road access to the highway. Currently, we are working diligently to develop educational and living infrastructures. The objective in 2025 is to build two more classrooms, two dormitories, a kitchen and a common leisure and eating area.
